As noted in my previous blog post the Local Government Act 2002 Amendment Act 2014 is now law.
One of the major requirements to impact asset management planning in the 2014 Amendment Act is the requirement for a 30-year Infrastructure Strategy.
This is required for Water, Wastewater, Stormwater networks, Roads and Footpaths, and Flood Protection assets. Other assets/activities can be added by the local authority at their discretion.
Please review our Infrastructure Strategy requirements blog post in January 2014 for background information, comments and observations around the requirements for an Infrastructure Strategy.
Grant Holland has led the development of Waugh Infrastructure Management’s response to the requirement for an Infrastructure Strategy.
Grant has attended or reviewed information from:
- IPWEA NZ Infrastructure Strategy Workshop (1st August 2014)
- SOLGM’s Jigsaw IV
- Discussions at the Canterbury Strategy and Policy Forum (18th August 2014)
- Wider industry discussion and circulated guidance (DIA, SOLGM)
- Informal discussions with the Office of the Auditor General
- Waugh Infrastructure Management Ltd’s internal discussions and opinions
Resulting in Grant’s involvement in developing our response, he was invited to present on Infrastructure Strategy implementation at the Canterbury Strategy and Policy Forum.
A selection of the slides that Grant presented to the Canterbury Strategy and Policy Forum is included below.
To assist clients in implementing their Infrastructure Strategy, Waugh Infrastructure Management has developed a framework document.
The Waugh Infrastructure Management – Infrastructure Strategy Framework provides an MS Word document that outlines a suggested Infrastructure Strategy – structure, content, tables, examples etc.
The Waugh Infrastructure Management – Infrastructure Strategy Framework is available for our clients to purchase.
If you require further information about the Waugh Infrastructure Management – Infrastructure Strategy Framework please contact us and ask for Grant Holland or Ross Waugh
