30-Year Infrastructure Strategy – A Framework for Asset Management Planning

As noted in my previous blog post the Local Government Act 2002 Amendment Act 2014 is now law.

One of the major requirements to impact asset management planning in the 2014 Amendment Act is the requirement for a 30-year Infrastructure Strategy.  

This is required for Water, Wastewater, Stormwater networks, Roads and Footpaths, and Flood Protection assets.  Other assets/activities can be added by the local authority at their discretion.

Grant Holland has led the development of Waugh Infrastructure Management’s response to the requirement for an Infrastructure Strategy.

• IPWEA NZ Infrastructure Strategy Workshop (1st August 2014)
• SOLGM’s Jigsaw IV
• Discussions at the Canterbury Strategy and Policy Forum (18th August 2014)
• Wider industry discussion and circulated guidance (DIA, SOLGM)
• Informal discussions with the Office of the Auditor General
• Waugh Infrastructure Management Ltd’s internal discussions and opinions

Resulting in Grant’s involvement in developing our response, he was invited to present on Infrastructure Strategy implementation at the Canterbury Strategy and Policy Forum.
