The BBC model has been developed by the NZ Treasury to improve decision making through the use of fit for purpose business cases.
The BBC model provides a structured analysis framework and process for the development of business cases and subsequent justification for investments.
Grant and I found the training well worthwhile because the BBC model is applicable to the work we do for our clients’ projects.
The New Zealand Transportation Agency or NZTA (which funds the government grant share for road construction, renewal and maintenance in New Zealand) has adopted the use of BBC within the National Land Transport Programme.
Resulting from this NZTA adoption we can expect the use of BBC to also be required for larger New Zealand local authority transportation programmes.
The next step for Grant and I is to adopt the use of the BBC Model to fit local authority specific requirements – within the broader infrastructure management planning context, programmes, and land transport programmes.
We will be working with our local authority clients, associates, and the NZ Treasury to ensure that the adaption of the BBC Model for local authorities is fit for purpose, and is accepted within the NZ BBC Steering Committee guidelines.
Further developments on this work will be advised directly to our clients, and also on this blog.
