Over the past three years since AMPs were last updated there have been a number of on-going changes that affect local government and Asset Management Plans:
- Regional Plans have been updated or become operative
- Regional Plan variations have occurred
- Iwi Treaty settlements have continued, and in some cases include water co-governance and management clauses
- District Plans have been updated, and/or plan variations have occurred
- Water Conservation orders have been put in place
- National Policy Statements and National Environmental Statements have progressed
- NZTA classifications and reviews have occurred
- Regional Strategies for urban growth have been developed or have progressed
- District Strategies have been developed and adopted
- Consents have been updated, renewed or gained
- International and New Zealand Standards have been updated and/or new standards adopted
All of these planning and regulatory activities have the potential impact on your Asset Management Plan levels of service, future demand management, lifecycle management and financial projections.
As part of your Asset Management Plan update it is important to complete a stocktake of these changes and ensure that the impacts are reflected in the AMP.
